At Yamagata Europe a strong and diverse team of translation project managers lies at the core of our company’s success. As the liaison between customers and translators, our project managers make sure translations run like clockwork.
Spread across our two offices in Ghent and Bratislava, Yamagata Europe currently employs 15 translation project managers who handle projects for customers spread across the globe. The main task of our project managers is to guide the translation projects from A to Z, or from briefing to timely delivery. This job requires quite a few super powers: clear communication skills, excellent organization talent, the ability to cope with stress and advanced knowledge of translation software and processes.
What does a typical day of a project manager look like?
A project manager has a constant communication line with customers and translators. A typical day revolves around starting up new projects, pushing running projects to the next phase and delivering completed projects. Other than that, the project manager keeps a close eye on quality, budgets and deadlines and is always ready to answer questions and solve problems.
What our project managers say:
A project doesn’t always go as planned. The challenge then is to come up with the best possible solution within the shortest time frame.” – Helen
“Translation is often one of the last steps in the process, which means that deadlines can be tight. But we always do our utmost to make it happen!” – Alexandra
Single point of contact
At the start of the cooperation with a new customer, a dedicated project manager is assigned as this customer’s single point of contact. For complex file types and projects, the project manager receives support from a backup project management team and a team of language engineers.
What our project managers say:
“Having a single point of contact for customers makes it easier to meet their needs, because it allows the project manager to really dive into the customer’s typical requirements and workflows.” – Annelies
Keep track of your project
Yamagata Europe’s recipe for a successful translation process is a strong team of experienced language professionals combined with process automation, including access to a modular and customizable customer portal for quotation requests and project tracking.
Our portal allows multiple customer stakeholders to manage their translation projects efficiently and gives them a real-time overview of all requested, ongoing and completed projects. On top of that, the customer portal gives access to KPI dashboards and allows easy consumption of our machine translation services.
Working across time zones
Being a company with global customers, working across time zones comes with the program. Thanks to the appropriate workflows, flexible work schedules and online tools, Yamagata Europe manages to bridge the time zone gap.
What our project managers say:
“On top of the thrills of working in an international atmosphere, I love the relationship aspect of working with customers.” – Emilia
“Working across time zones can be challenging but getting to know people around the world is so inspiring.” – Edulis
